Each student is assigned to a base class with a class tutor. Unlike other schools, at Coláiste Éamann Rís students meet their tutor every day for a fifteen minute check and connect period. In this way, the class tutor can check in on each of their students’ social, emotional and academic progress.
Each year group is also assigned a Year Head who runs the year group like mini-school – checking absences, behaviour and academic results.
The school also has two Deputy Principals who are responsible for three year groups each.
Coláiste Éamann Rís is a vibrant, co-educational secondary school in the heart of Cork City, where young people are supported as they grow into confident, compassionate and capable adults. Rooted in the Edmund Rice tradition of education, we are guided by our school motto ‘Uaisleacht’ – invoking strength of character, nobility of spirit, and kindness of heart.
As a DEIS school, we are deeply committed to inclusion, equality and opportunity for all. Teaching and learning are at the core of school life, but we also believe in nurturing the social and emotional wellbeing of each student. Through strong links with families and the wider community, we create opportunities for students to engage with the world around them, explore their interests and develop the skills that will serve them throughout life.
We believe in celebrating the journey as much as the destination. Milestones such as entrance exams, Edmund Rice Day, and student graduations are marked with joy and a strong sense of community, bringing together parents, grandparents and friends for barbecues, bouncy castles and moments of shared pride.
Coláiste Éamann Rís is more than a place of learning; it’s a place where everyone belongs.
