Student Leadership
Student Council
In Coláiste Éamann Rís, the Student Council is elected by the students and represents their voices. The Student Council works to make meaningful change and create opportunities for students to engage in school life. Collaborating together, they plan events, promote wellbeing and strengthen their leadership skills within the school community.

ERST Committee
The Edmund Rice Schools Trust (ERST) committee promotes the values of the ERST charter and our founder Blessed Edmund Rice. These values include nurturing faith, christian spirituality and gospel based values, inspiring transformational leadership, creating a caring school community, promoting partnership and excelling in teaching and learning.
The ERST committee helps to foster an inclusive environment where students are encouraged to grow academically and socially, while also making a positive impact on the world around them. Their work inspires us to live out our faith and values in everyday life. The committee’s work helps to ensure that our school remains a place where faith and values are at the heart of everything we do. Through their efforts, the ERST Committee inspires us to live out these values both in and out of the classroom, creating a stronger, more caring school community.
Green Schools
The Green Schools Committee plays an important role in Coláiste Éamann Rís, promoting long-term, whole-school action for the environment. Green-Schools is a student-led programme with involvement from the wider community.
One initiative students have been working on is keeping our school environment clean and welcoming, maintaining a pleasant space for all. Students from the Green Schools Committee recently dedicated time to clean and organise the reading dome in our yard. By working together we not only create a better space for learning but also help support our hardworking caretakers and cleaners who are already doing a fantastic job. Keeping the school clean benefits everyone by promoting a positive and tidy environment.
In addition, the Green Schools Committee attends Green School Conferences throughout the year. They learn valuable insights into sustainability, the environment and energy conservation and gain knowledge to bring back to the school for future environmental initiatives.
Meitheal
The Meitheal Youth Leadership Programme is undertaken by students in Coláiste Éamann Rís every year. Students who are selected to join the Meitheal team in Transition Year receive training alongside students from twenty-three other schools across Cork. Meitheal trains students to be moral leaders through their practice of justice, compassion and humility. It gives young people an opportunity to grow in awareness of themselves, and in the needs of others. Whilst in Fifth Year, the Meitheal Team within the school organise and carry out activities and ice-breakers for students in First Year, fostering friendships and inclusivity.
